An Introduction to Electronic Music Production

Once again Rock 'n Roll High leads the way in introducing students to composing and producing in electronic music.

This tuition program is aimed at using software to compose your own electronic music. Learn how to understand the basics of sound and digital recording to produce your own masterpieces.

The program is a carefully designed and structured series of lectures based on our Certificate IV in Music program delivered by the Southern College of Music. A nationally recognised fully accredited  Certificate of Attainment can be obtained at the completion of the unit.

You will work in a class of no more than 3 in a fully resourced environment for a Ten Week Term. Each lesson will be accompanied by a worksheet that you will use a a guide to learning and will also serve as evidence of achievement. At the end of the course you will be able to:

Understand the basics in

  • sound and acoustics
  • how all Digital Audio Workstations (DAW) work
  •  song format and theory for composing

And to cap it all off you will produce your own demo recording of three songs.

Lessons are also available in a more casual setting to enable students entry at any time during the term.

PLEASE TEXT IAN ON 0429014400 to arrange an appointment time for more info.

We use Ableton Live 9, Cubase, Pro Tools and Garage Band as our primary DAWS in these lessons. Digital Performer 7 is our preferred studio recording DAW.

It is advisable that you have a computer at home with suitable software for home practice.
